Throughout 2023, Roya Media Group has proudly celebrated a series of cumulative achievements that have solidified its position as a frontrunner in the media and entertainment industry, not only in Jordan but across the entire region. These accomplishments stand as a testament to the group's continuous dedication and innovative efforts.
Roya Media Group has maintained its commitment to delivering diverse media content across various platforms. The group excelled in television production, consistently adapting to the latest technological innovations. This commitment resulted in the creation of several successful projects, offering exceptional content that resonated with its audience. These endeavors underline the group's vision to differentiate itself, provide innovative entertainment experiences, and leave a lasting impact on digital and production landscapes.
The introduction of new services on the Roya TV website and application, featuring 40 live channels with diverse themes, marked a significant enhancement to the user experience. The Roya TV packages garnered an impressive 7 million users and 126 million views in 2023. Simultaneously, the "Roya Play" application hosted engaging competitions during Ramadan, attracting 1.8 million users. The group distributed 150 prizes, including three cars, at the conclusion of the competitions.
Digital Platforms Reach New Heights
Roya achieved record-breaking viewership on its websites, platforms, and applications, accumulating 279 million views and engaging 25 million unique users. Roya's media platforms received an astounding 10 billion views on video clips in the past twelve months. The group's digital followers reached 60 million, marking a 26.6 percent increase from the 2022 record.
To align with evolving social media trends, Roya Group launched 14 channels on WhatsApp and 13 pages on the Threads application. Snapchat channels witnessed a remarkable 72.71 percent increase in subscribers from 2022.
In 2023, Roya inaugurated a 24/7 live news channel as part of its direct channel packages through the Roya TV website and application. Notably, Rashid Al Rababah joined the news department teams, making history as the first visually impaired broadcaster to join a news channel in the region.
Expanding Regional Reach
Roya Media Group expanded its regional presence by establishing new offices, including "Roya Egypt," which conducted interviews with prominent Egyptian artists. The group launched a dedicated channel for "Roya Egypt," achieving over 70 million views on social media sites. The "Roya Iraq" team garnered 200 million views on its digital platforms, and the "Roya Saudi" platform recorded 9 million views.
"Roya Palestine" continued its detailed coverage of events related to the Palestinian issue in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, amassing over 800 million views on various social media platforms in 2023.
Roya Media Group received nominations at the BroadcastPro Middle East ASBU ME Awards 2023 in the "Best Content Strategy" and "Best Live Broadcast Services" categories.
Diverse Content and Recognitions
Diverse content on "Donya Ya Donya" which covers social topics, nutritional advice, and health directives, in addition to educational and home-related issues suitable for all family members was praised.
The program "Caravan" presented Arab diversity through 20 diverse segments, hosting influencers from various parts of the Arab world.
Continuing its previous success, the "Nabd Al Balad" program garnered more than 80 million views on the TikTok platform in just one month.
"Roya TV" led local viewership, securing a 50.1 percent viewership rate in Ramadan 2023. The group's programs, series, and initiatives received acclaim, reinforcing Roya's prominent status in the Arab media landscape.
In addition, according to an "ET in Arabic" poll, the series "Jalta-Kibrat Al Eileh" in its fifth edition was chosen as the best Jordanian TV series during Ramadan 2023. The series' concept was developed by The Creative Lab team, an arm of the group, while production was handled by The Show Services team.
As part of Roya Media Group's external partnerships, the production company "The Show Services" produced a program entitled "Laila Andi Bl Beit," specifically for the "Weyak" platform. Additionally, the company produced a second part of the program "Ashab Al Reyadeh" for Arab TV 2.
Roya TV launched two live broadcast channels through its application and website: "Dehk w Bas," which features classic Arab comedies from the content library of the Rotana network, and the "Lady of the Screen" channel, dedicated to celebrating the seventh art and the influence of Arab actresses in societies.
Roya also added two channels within the live broadcast service of the Arab TV network channels: "Al-Arabi 1," a news channel focused on event coverage, background analysis, and news presentation, and "Al-Arabi 2," a multi-platform cultural entertainment channel.
As part of the strategy to expand digital reach, Roya Group launched the "Roya Waves" application during the month of Ramadan to provide a program package produced by "Roya Podcast" and the radio service for free throughout the week.
This initiative produced a radio series on the "Roya Podcast" platform titled "The Triple Crime," employing artificial intelligence for the first time in the audio drama industry. The teaser series gained the audience's attention and achieved high record numbers.
Building on the success of the "Haki Tani Jordan" program, Roya launched four diverse versions: "Haki Seyaseh," focusing on political issues, "Kalam Tani," the Egyptian version, "Hachi Thani," the Iraqi version, and finally, a version dedicated to the teenage generation, "Haki Teens." All versions of "Haki Tani" are broadcast on podcasts and television, in addition to launching a special channel through the Roya website and application to broadcast all episodes of the program in response to the volume of demand for it.
The "Nabd Al Balad" program was one of the most listened-to political programs on the Google Podcast platform.
As is customary on national occasions and Crown celebrations, Roya achieved a remarkable presence during the coverage of the wedding of His Highness Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II. The group allocated 172 of its employees, including 10 broadcasters, to cover this exceptional event between the open studio for covering the wedding ceremony and broadcasting the governorates' celebrations and the live television broadcasting staff. Thus, Roya was the closest to conveying the joy of Jordanians from the heart of the event, while it achieved 291 million views on all platforms.
On that day, Roya continued to transmit the stages of preparation and celebrations from Arab artists’ concerts to local and regional coverage. On this occasion, Roya TV released 13 special songs through its Roya Waves application.
Through Roya Kids, the group presented the animated series "Luna and Her Friends" with its three seasons and a collection of songs dedicated to children, in addition to 250 interactive games that combine education, and fun. The Roya Kids application witnessed the joining of 25 thousand new users, in addition to the launch of three special channels for "Roya Kids" through the Roya website and application, in addition to a greater spread of the platform’s correspondents.
The group also announced a new partnership between Roya Kids and the telecommunications network operators "Jawwal" and "Ooredoo" in Palestine through "Universal Telecom", to facilitate payment for users in Palestine and so that customers of these networks can use easy payment methods on their mobile phones and subscribe monthly or annually to Roya Kids. It also signed similar agreements with the Saudi Telecom Company, Zain, and Mobily in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In response to the Israeli Occupation's aggression in late 2023, Roya adapted its broadcast schedule to provide 24/7 live coverage of events in the occupied territories and adjusted program content to serve the Palestinian cause.
